Sebastian County pleas entered for week of Sept. 23-30

Other pleas heard Wednesday by Judge Cottrell in Van Buren the week of Sept. 30:

  • A 19-year-old Van Buren man pleaded not guilty to breaking or entering and theft of property. Anderson was arrested Sept. 14 by Van Buren police after an officer identified him from video surveillance footage that allegedly shows him taking items from vehicles parked at the Van Buren Public Library.
  • A South Gate, Calif., woman, 35, pleaded not guilty to nine counts of theft by receiving, two counts of first-degree forgery, criminal impersonation and log book violation. She was arrested Sept. 17 by state police after the freight truck she was driving was stopped for a random inspection and officers allegedly found stolen credit or debit cards, two social security cards and an altered log book.
  • An Alma man, 29, pleaded not guilty to theft of property habitual offender. He was arrested Sept. 24 by Van Buren police after a friend’s father told police that he had stolen video games from their home after staying the night. 
     
     

     

  • A Van Buren man, 43, pleaded not guilty to second-degree sexual assault. He was arrested Sept. 14 by Van Buren police after a 16-year-old girl told police that he had been inappropriately touching her since she was seven.
  • A Van Buren woman, 29, pleaded not guilty to possession of hydrocodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Xanax. She was arrested Sept. 16 by Alma police after a passerby brought her to the police department because of bruising on her face, and then allegedly found the drugs and paraphernalia on her.
  • A couple , 20, both of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to residential burglary and theft of property. Gray and Jennings were arrested by Crawford County Sheriff’s deputies Sept. 19 after a woman reported seeing a gray truck parked several times outside her property. When deputies arrived, they allegedly found the couple inside the garage with items from the residence on their persons and inside a backpack belonging to them.
  • A Fort Smith man pleaded not guilty to delivery of marijuana. The man was arrested after Arkansas State Police had a confidential informant use $130 to allegedly purchase an ounce of marijuana from him. The drugs were purchased within 1,000 feet of a church.
  • A Chester man, 34,  pleaded not guilty to aggravated robbery. He allegedly used a small handgun to rob S & P Super Store on 71 Highway in Alma, then fled police. He was arrested by Crawford County Sheriff’s deputies Sept. 19 in his home.
  • A Van Buren man, 19,l pleaded not guilty to theft by receiving and residential burglary. The man allegedly broke into a local residence and stole several video gaming systems and games, along with $2,000-$3000 worth of jewelry and an iPod. He was arrested by Van Buren Police after selling several of the games to a game trading store.
  • A Mulberry woman, 30,  pleaded not guilty to failure to appear. She was originally arrested on charges of theft of property.
  • A Fort Smith man pleaded not guilty to failure to appear. He was originally arrested on charges of overdraft.
  • A Fort Smith man resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received for violation of protection order and terroristic threatening, alleging he has failed to pay fines and costs, and failed to meet probation requirements.
